Spiritual Corner - God Really Exists!

Publié : Jun-26-2026

Life is like a drama, everyone is the prime character in this drama. It is very important that everyone knows how to play his/her role well. It was a big shock to learn that my friend’s husband was killed in a car crash. When recalling the interactions with her family, the memories are still so vivid! My friend chose to be baptized and became a Catholic four years ago. Pray that God may lead and guide her and her family during this most difficult time. When confronted with adversities, many Christians may have doubts, but they would also gain the experience of “Do Not Be Afraid!” from these trials and gradually emerge from the valley of the shadow of death.

Many who have been to Medjugorje might have encountered some kind of miracles and experienced “the real presence of God”. God truly exists. After my baptism, the Lord let me land on a job with a foreign commercial bank where I enjoyed a luxury lifestyle and high stature. Yet, later he down-graded me to the life of an ordinary citizen, and the contrast was reflected in the salary I received! In 1984, the Lord invited me to the World Youth Day in His hometown. He let me witness that He is truly present: His birth, preaching, passion, death and resurrection, as well as the Fish of St. Peter!, Looking at the deserted ruins, my mind was filled with the desolated land of “Tyre” and “Sidon”. I said in my heart, “I will come: I have witnessed and I believe!” After the pilgrimage, I gave up everything, and to the surprise of my family and friends, I joined the convent!

20 years’ experiences from the convent formation and evangelization, pastoral responsibilities in parishes, schools and nursing homes in Taiwan, had enabled me to provide pastoral services with all my heart, soul and dedication to Christians and those who do not yet know God in North America. A lot of parishioners and even the sisters in my convent often told me, “You are doing too much, you can do less!” Honestly, God is my boss, what He wills me to do, can I say no? There was a time when I had done something good and was so pleased with myself. Immediately, the verses from Luke 17: 9-10 jumped out: “Does the master thank the servant because he did what was commanded? So you also, when you have done all that is commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’ ”

God truly exists. He exists in the hearts of those who are sincere, genuine and kind. May you experience the true existence of God in your heart too!

Yours,
Sr. Magdalena Yang
