The Shepherds' Trust

The mission of The Shepherds' Trust is to provide elderly and disabled diocesan priests with the necessary resources to lead a dignified life after many years of active ministry.

The Shepherds' Trust supports the needs of the retired diocesan clergy of the Archdiocese of Toronto who have served our family of faith, bringing us the sacraments and enriching our parishes, homes, schools, hospitals and countless other gatherings through their ministry.

The Trust was started by lay people who recognized the needs of our retired priests and helped to establish the Trust as a reflection of the gratitude and appreciation of the faithful parishioners in our parishes.

Through support of The Shepherds' Trust, our retired priests are given the dignity of adequate monthly allowance, health care and other assistance in their golden years- often well beyond the recognized retirement age of 75.

At this time St. Agnes Kouying Tsao Catholic Church is being serviced by religious order priests – priests from Congregatio Discipulorum Domini (CDD).  They move around to service different parts of the world, however, as long as they have serviced in our archdiocese for more than six months in a year, part of the collection for that year will go towards their religious order. For each religious order priest directly assigned to a parish, their order receives the same assessment amount that is allocated for a diocesan priest.

Our priests have been "our rocks", faithfully serving St Agnes Kuoying Tsao Catholic Church . We have leaned on them in crisis and in times of joy. They were "our rocks" when we faced so many of life's challenges. Challenges like, marriage difficulties, errant children, job loss, addictions, illness, financial difficulties, and the death of a loved one.  We have celebrated personal and parish milestones with them; the joys of daily mass, the sacraments, anniversaries, the birth of children and grandchildren.

Retired priests are grateful for our generosity, and are touched by our genuine love for them and our recognition of their years of devoted service to us and our families.  They continue to pray for each and every one of us.
