A writer of love story once said in his speech that there are three kinds of people in the world : the first kind is one who doesn’t look beautiful at first sight, but who becomes more beautiful as time goes by; the second kind is one looks beautiful at first sight, but becomes less good-looking as time goes by; and the third kind is one who looks beautiful at first sight and looks more beautiful as time goes by.
Dear friend, you may not be able to change the features on your face and the build of your body, but you can change your pose, and beautify your look with your heart.
Have you ever heard that God gives us our appearance, but we have to shape our own face?
The features of one’s face cannot be decided by oneself, yet one can be responsible for the look on one’s face. As the Bible says, “The good man produces what is good and honorable out of the good treasures in his heart; and the evil man produces what is wicked depraved out of evil”. (Luke 6:47)
What comes from one’s heart determines one’s look. Are we the ones who know how to produce good from the heart? Or are we the ones who have too much greed, evil and snobbishness? This is something that we have to think about and reflect on.
I look forward to the day when others will say, “Although he/she does not look beautiful, but he/she is indeed beautiful when you get to know him/her.” Or, “he/she is beautiful and he/she is even more beautiful when you get to know him/her.”
Dear friends, “God gives us our appearance, but we have to shape our own face.” Let us cherish what is said here.
Your Pastor,
Fr. Thomas Loh
