Spiritual Corner -- I Believe In the One and Only God

Though she is over eighty years of age, this experienced catechist still actively engaged in preaching and lectorship. She says, “Everything is from the grace of God. When one
is born, he holds nothing in his tightly-clasped, tiny fists. When one dies, he opens up his palms, holding on to nothing and brings with him nothing. Everything one has is from the reward and grace of God. Without Him, what can one achieve? I am grateful, very grateful, for everything done is beyond my own ability. ”

John Chapter 2:1-5 tells us that “there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Jesus also was invited to the wedding with his disciples. When the wine ran out, the mother of Jesus said to him, ‘They have no wine.’ And Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, what does this have to do with me? My hour has not yet come.’ His mother said to the servants, ‘Do whatever he tells you.’”

Where can we find Jesus? The best thing about the Catholic faith is that we have clear instructions from the Bible. Our Lady tells us, “Do whatever he tells you.” The Church and Church teachers also instruct us to follow this:- “Do whatever He tells you.”

Some Christians say, “I believe in the one and only God,” but their life and actions show that they believe in themselves only. If Christians can put God first in their life, then they will be placed in the heart of God. Whatever moves your heart — be it through the Bible, the Sacrament, something in your life, some words from others — think of this verse from Our Lady, “Do whatever he tells you.”

When deacons are ordained, the Bishop reminds them, “Believe in what you preach , teach what you believe in, practice what you teach.” Christians should also do this to please God. From now on, do whatever He tells you to do.

Yours,
Sr. Magdalena Yang
