The old prayers are beautifully written in classical Chinese. Phrases and words used are concise and precise, fully reflecting the essence of the Chinese culture.

The Ten Commandments:

  3. Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
  4. Honor your father and your mother.
  5. You shall not murder.
  6. You shall not commit adultery.
  7. You shall not steal.
  8. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.
  9. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife.
  10. You shall not covet anything that belongs to your neighbor.

The Four Precepts for the faithful

  1. Go to Mass on Sundays and Solemnities.
  2. Observe obligatory days of fasting and abstinence.
  3. Go for confession at least once a year.
  4. Provide for the needs of the Church.

Prayer for grace and forgiveness

May the almighty and most merciful God have mercy on us and forgive our sins. Guide us throughout our lives. Amen.
May our Lord protect us from sinning.
Lord have mercy on us.
Lord have mercy on us.
Lord hear my prayer.

Almighty God thank you for providing all our need this day. May the Almighty save us from sins, guide our words and action according to thy will.
In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Almighty God, my Lord my God. Guide my heart, my body, my thoughts, and my words. Lead us, guard us and rule us in conforming to all Catholic precepts and teachings. Our savior, help and protect us from the beginning, now and forever.

Holy Mary, mother of God, intercede for us to your son Jesus to give us strength to do good today and lead us not into temptations. Amen.

Almighty God bless us this day. Almighty God, save us this day from sins. May all my thoughts and deeds be done according to Thy will. In Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

God and angels guide us in mercy. I entrust myself to you. Guard me and guide me. Amen.

Blessed/Saint (xxx) intercede for me to abstain from sins and model after you. Amen.

Almighty God, bless me and protect me from sins. May all souls Rest in Peace. Amen.

Our parishioners always recite this prayer at the end of the daily morning mass and Saturday Mandarin vigil mass: Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God’s love entrusts me here. Ever this day be at my side to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

Dear God, through day and night, take care of us, your flock.

Yours,
Sr. Magdalena Yang
