Spiritual Corner - Our Lady of the Rosary Month

Posted : Oct-06-2022

“My Queen, my Mother, I am totally yours and all that I have is yours.”

I learned the above hymn in the major seminary. At the same time, it is also the oath taken at the annual parade of the Legion of Mary. It expresses our respect for Mary and is a way of dedicating ourselves to her, pleading her to lead us to the Lord.

October is the month of Our Lady of the Rosary, a month when we pray the rosary as a salute to Holy Mary. On October 7, the Feast of the Holy Rosary, a candlelight procession for Mary with the recitation of the rosary took place in our Parish. With such devotion to our Lady, let us pray that she would intercede with God for us, for our family members, for vocation, for the Pope, for our parishioners, for the repentance of sinners, for the souls in purgatory, for the sick, for our nation and for world peace.

To us, Catholics, the rosary is a powerful and an effective spiritual weapon, it can help defeat devils and resist temptations. It would be a pity should we, as Catholics, fail to manipulate this holy weapon. The recitation of the rosary has been in place for about one thousand years. Many saints, male or female, had the habit of reciting the rosary and with the help of the Holy Mother, managed to clear off obstacles along their path of sanctification.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, let us spend some time in our daily lives to pray and to recite the rosary.

Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us!

Yours,
Fr. Philip Tan
