Spiritual Corner - The New Saints of Our Church - St. Carlo Acutis & St. Pier Giorgio Frassati

Posted : Oct-24-2025

Pope Leo XIV canonized Blessed Carlo Acutis and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati at St. Peter’s Square on September 7, 2025.

St. Carlo Acutis was born on May 3, 1991 and died of acute lymphocytic leukemia on October 12, 2006. St. Pier Giorgio Frassati was born on April 6, 1901 and died on July 4, 1925 of sudden attack of poliomyelitis at the age of 24. These two young laity saints, though living in different generations, yet actively lived as witnesses of their faith and became models for the youth. St. Carlo Acutis made the best use of God’s blessings, he catalogued the Eucharistic miracles around the world and used the internet to spread the good news of Christ. St. Pier Giorgio Frassati fervently loved God in an anti-religion atmosphere, held onto his faith, watched out for social justice, especially justice for the poor.

More attentions were on St. Carlo Acutis in this canonization ceremony, as other than a youth, he was also the saint of this digital age, he is renowned as the “Patron Saint of the Internet” in this Millennium. Thank God for selecting different people to manifest God’s glory. Let us under the inspiration of the saints, make full use of God’s blessings in our environment as His witnesses, and walk on the path to sanctification.

Let Us pray

Almighty God, who grants St. Carlo deep love for the Eucharist, and that he made use of technology wisely to spread the Gospel. Through St. Carlo’s example and prayers, help us, especially youth, make good use of our lives given by you for your glory and for the salvation of humankind. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen!

Your Pastor,
Fr. Francis Chong
