On Sunday, May 3, the St. Joseph the Worker Parish community in Oshawa welcomed His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo on the anniversary weekend of their May 1 parish feast day. Notably, St Joseph the Worker parish is celebrating 41 years in Oshawa.

The parish is also the home for the Oshawa Catholic Chaplaincy, ministering to the post-secondary students of Ontario Tech, Durham College and Trent University (Durham Campus).

Cardinal Leo was warmly greeted at the parish by the Knights of Columbus and other parish ministries. He preached on the value of daily prayer in family life and the importance of Sunday Mass. He also emphasized the importance of praying for vocations and praying for an increase in responding to the call to the priesthood.

After Mass, His Eminence took the time to greet parishioners in the parish hall during a reception – meeting with both individuals and the various groups of the parish.
